Chanyeol is a Korean artist well-known for his deep love and affection for the Philippines. He has visited the country numerous times, always ensuring that each trip is memorable and meaningful for both himself and EXO-Ls. Hence, PULP Live World brought the 2024 Chanyeol Live Tour : 都市風景 (City-scape) to Manila.
October 19, 2024, that night revealed many facets of Chanyeol to his EXO-Ls – a lovable idol, a rockstar, a Filipino at heart, a compelling brand endorser, and an artist who demonstrated his growth and improvement over the years.
Poging-Rocker
Channeling his inner rocker, Chanyeol kicked off the show with “Back Again” and “Good Enough,” while showcasing his impressive guitar skills. He was accompanied by one of Korea’s top bands, adding to the concert’s energy and making it truly unforgettable. In one segment, he surprised fans with guitar solos of “Hotel California” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine;” he even sang along to “Basket Case” which was originally sung by Green Day. He was also a “sweet” rocker as he also performed the beloved Goblin OST “Stay With Me” and the viral hit “Yours” during his first set. His setlist for the night featured his other singles as well as tracks from his EP, Blackout.
Pogi
Chanyeol’s favorite Filipino word appears to be “pogi.” With a cheerful smile, he enjoys asking his fans, “pogi ba ako?”—to which they all enthusiastically agree. Besides his favorite word, his adorable “salamat po” is endearing, and his joy at being back in the Philippines is undoubtedly one of the show’s highlights (even his keyboardist agrees).
Brand Endorser
Chanyeol’s love for Penshoppe is quite evident. A day before his concert, he held a fan signing event for the brand and complimented his fans, saying they looked even more attractive in their Penshoppe OOTDs. He also noticed some fans sporting the brand’s outfits during the concert. Chanyeol mentioned that he finds Penshoppe’s clothes comfortable and stylish, adding that he often wears them during his live broadcasts.
OPM Supporter
Chanyeol has added a new OPM song to his repertoire, and it’s not just “Hawak Kamay.” He flawlessly jammed to Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila” during one of his sets. Aftwerwards, he had a “ment” with his fans, asking if they enjoyed his rendition. The fans enthusiastically responded and chanted for an encore. Chanyeol happily obliged, initially agreeing to sing the chorus, but ended up performing the entire song once more, much to the delight of his fans.
EXO
Even if he’s on a solo tour, he knows that his EXO-Ls will still love to hear him perform his group’s songs, aside from “Just As Usual,” he delighted many with an EXO remix that had parts of the songs “Lotto,” “Tempo,” “Monster,” “Obsession,” and “Growl.” As part of EXO-SC, he also sang “Nothin,” “Telephone” and “Just Us 2,”
It was yet another night that filled EXO-Ls with enough endorphins to keep them going in their daily lives. Seeing Chanyeol’s unwavering love for the Philippines and his dedication to surprising his fans was truly heartwarming. He consistently shows that he is an artist who cherishes his craft and deeply values his supporters. We eagerly await the day Chanyeol is “Back Again,” ready to bring joy to his fans once more.
